We’re making final preparations for the Texas Men’s State Chili and Barbecue Championships in Johnson City. We hope you come out and play with us as we have a weekend of great activities planned. Here’s the schedule:
Thursday, April 4
8:00 AM Fairgrounds open for camping, limited electric
6:00 PM Complimentary wine sampling at the Kirchmann Gallery (on the square)
7:00 PM Cooks’ mixer with free appetizers at Pecan Street Brewing Company
Friday, April 5
3:00 Registration opens
Barbecue meat inspection on arrival
6:30 PM Cooks’ Party – pulled pork and salad provided. Please bring a side dish.
42 tournament starts after dinner
8:00 PM Lonnie Lett Show in the bar
Saturday, April 6
8:00 AM til close. Fairgrounds open to vendors, general public, silent auction
11:00 AM Turn in for Beans and Wings judging
12:00PM Turn in chicken for judging
1:00PM Turn in chili for judging
2:00PM Turn in ribs for judging
3:30PM Turn in brisket for judging
5:00PM (approximate time) awards event
There will be a sampling of Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi wines in the afternoon
8:00 PM Music with Scooter Pearce in the bar

Pod On The Pedernales Chili Cookoff, turn in 1:00 PM
We feel proud of our pod cookoff awards this year and think you’d love to take one home. First place will be a silver chili pepper necklace made by a local artist. The other chili and show awards are custom pottery chili bowls. Hang around on Sunday and join us.
